Korean Air announced a significant partnership on Thursday, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ronald McDonald House Charities Korea (RMHC Korea) and Inha University Hospital. This collaborative agreement aims to establish and operate a dedicated Ronald McDonald House facility directly adjacent to Inha University Hospital in Incheon, providing crucial support for pediatric patients and their families.
The signing ceremony took place during Inha University Hospital’s 30th-anniversary celebrations at the Grand Hyatt Incheon. Under the terms of this vital agreement, Korean Air will generously provide the land for the new facility. RMHC Korea will take the lead in overseeing the construction and subsequent operations of the Ronald McDonald House, while Inha University Hospital will be responsible for medical coordination and managing the facility’s day-to-day needs.
Ronald McDonald House Charities is a globally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to children’s welfare, operating impactful programs across 61 countries worldwide. These houses offer free accommodation to children undergoing long-term hospitalization or extensive outpatient treatment, along with their families, ensuring they can stay close during challenging times.
This upcoming Ronald McDonald House is envisioned to be more than just a place to stay; it will serve as a vital healing space. Pediatric patients receiving specialized treatment at Inha University Hospital will find a supportive environment here, crucial for fostering emotional stability and aiding their recovery journey.
Inha University Hospital has consistently demonstrated its commitment to strengthening essential healthcare services. The hospital has made substantial investments in advanced infrastructure and skilled medical personnel, particularly focusing on severe diseases and comprehensive pediatric care. It proudly operates an integrated treatment system designed to cover all aspects of patient care, from outpatient services and emergency support to hospitalization and intensive care units.
Further solidifying its leadership in healthcare, Inha University Hospital stands as the sole medical institution in the northwestern Seoul metropolitan area equipped with a specialized treatment system specifically for severe pediatric diseases, offering unparalleled care to young patients.
“Korean Air is deeply committed to reflecting on the hospital’s founding philosophy. By providing the site for the Ronald McDonald House, we are actively contributing to the well-being of the local community,” stated Walter Cho, chairperson of Hanjin Group and CEO of Korean Air.
He added, “We sincerely hope this new Ronald McDonald House will empower Inha University Hospital to grow even further, becoming one of Korea’s premier hospitals. It will offer not only a top-tier integrated treatment system but also invaluable family support facilities for patients, creating a holistic care environment.”
