Mercedes-Benz has launched its fifth global brand studio in the vibrant district of Seongsu, Seoul, reinforcing its worldwide commitment to an elevated customer experience. This strategic opening is part of a broader initiative to establish 18 such innovative venues globally, designed to deepen engagement and set new standards in the fiercely competitive luxury automotive sector.

At a recent press conference, Mercedes-Benz Korea CEO Mathias Vaitl highlighted that the new Seongsu studio, located in eastern Seoul, joins a distinguished roster of global brand destinations including Copenhagen, Stockholm, Tokyo, and Prague. This launch is a key milestone in Mercedes-Benz’s global strategy, coinciding with the 140th anniversary of the invention of the automobile, showcasing the brand’s enduring legacy and forward-looking vision.

Vaitl emphasized the meticulous selection process for these studio locations, stating, “These cities were very carefully selected based on their cultural and economic influence, their unique identity and a strong customer connection between the city and the brand.” He proudly added, “Seoul was of course proudly selected as one of those cities because it so perfectly represents creativity, energy, innovation and cultural relevance,” underscoring the city’s strategic importance for Mercedes-Benz’s brand presence and customer interaction.

Operating for an initial period of one year, Mercedes-Benz Studio Seoul distinguishes itself from other exclusive venues like the Maybach Brand Center Seoul in Gangnam by being fully open to the general public. This allows a broader audience to immerse themselves in the Mercedes-Benz luxury experience. Visitors are invited to explore flagship models through engaging exhibitions and can easily book test drives, either online or directly at the studio, offering unparalleled access to automotive innovation.

Headlining the studio’s showcase is the highly anticipated new S-Class, featuring cutting-edge technologies designed to redefine luxury driving. Among its advanced capabilities is MB.Drive Assist Pro, an innovative hands-free autonomous city-driving system poised to revolutionize urban mobility, currently awaiting government approval for full implementation.

Preorders for this upgraded flagship Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan commenced recently, with customer deliveries projected to begin in the third quarter of this year. The diverse S-Class lineup will cater to various preferences, offering six distinct trims for the base model and three ultra-luxury trims for the exquisite Maybach variant, ensuring a bespoke experience for every discerning buyer.

Looking ahead, Vaitl announced Mercedes-Benz Korea’s ambitious plan to introduce 11 new models to the Korean market, spearheaded by the new S-Class and the new Maybach S-Class. This comprehensive launch will span the brand’s portfolio, from agile compact models like the All-New CLA coupe to robust electric vehicles such as the All-New Electric GLC SUV, all destined to be featured prominently at the Mercedes-Benz Studio Seoul.

Mercedes-Benz Korea is also making significant investments in developing a localized digital ecosystem specifically designed for Korean consumers. A prime example is the new S-Class, which seamlessly integrates popular Korean in-car platforms, including TMap, Wavve, and Genie Music. Furthermore, it will mark a pioneering achievement as the first S-Class model to offer live TV streaming capabilities, made possible through an exclusive partnership with LG Uplus, enhancing the luxury entertainment experience.

Beyond futuristic innovations, the Seongsu studio also pays homage to Mercedes-Benz’s rich heritage by prominently displaying the Patent Motorwagen. This iconic vehicle, developed by Karl Benz in 1886, holds the distinction of being the world’s first gasoline-powered, three-wheel automobile, offering visitors a glimpse into the origins of modern motoring.

Vaitl elaborated on the strategic choice of Seongsu for the new studio, explaining that the location aims to redefine Mercedes-Benz’s engagement with its loyal customer base while simultaneously expanding its appeal and touchpoints to a younger demographic, fostering new connections with the brand.

Underscoring the brand’s remarkable 140-year heritage, Vaitl affirmed, “We will continue not only to reinvent the automobile, but also the way we connect with our customers.” He emphasized that “The studio offers a more open and welcoming environment where people can experience the brand,” reinforcing the commitment to accessible and immersive luxury experiences.

Further enhancing customer convenience, Lee Sang-guk, vice president of the digital and communications division at Mercedes-Benz Korea, announced the recent launch of an innovative mobile service. This service dispatches professional technicians directly to customers’ preferred locations for maintenance and repair, providing unparalleled flexibility. Operated in collaboration with 11 official dealers, this initiative significantly broadens access to expert automotive care, complementing the extensive network of 73 Mercedes-Benz service centers across the nation.
