Rising K-pop sensation Cortis has made a remarkable entry onto the Billboard 200 chart, securing the No. 3 spot with their latest album, “GreenGreen.” This achievement marks the highest chart position yet for the dynamic K-pop rookie group.

This impressive second EP by Cortis garnered 87,000 album-equivalent units during the recent tracking week. Billboard confirmed on Sunday, in its chart preview, that these units included a significant 81,500 in pure album sales.

With “GreenGreen,” the talented five-member K-pop group also achieved their first-ever top-10 entry on the highly competitive main US albums chart. Their previous appearance on the chart was with their debut EP, “Color Outside the Lines,” which impressively peaked at No. 15 last year.

For context, the Billboard 200 meticulously ranks the most popular albums each week across the United States. This ranking is determined by equivalent album units, a comprehensive metric that includes physical and digital album sales, alongside streaming data and digital track downloads, all converted into album sales.

BigHit Music, Cortis’ agency, highlighted this significant milestone in a recent press release. They stated that Cortis now stands as the fastest K-pop group, excluding temporary project acts, to reach the Billboard 200’s top three, achieving this incredible feat merely nine months after their debut. Furthermore, BigHit Music noted that Cortis is the sole boy band formed within the last five years to ascend into the top three of the prestigious Billboard 200 chart.

Meanwhile, the fifth studio album, “Arirang,” from global K-pop juggernaut BTS, continued its strong performance. It secured its eighth consecutive week in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, landing at No. 8 this week after a slight drop from its previous position. (Yonhap)
