K-pop sensation and acclaimed singer-actor IU recently marked her birthday by making a substantial donation of 300 million won (approximately $200,160 USD), as announced by her agency, Edam Entertainment.
This significant charitable contribution was made under the meaningful name “IUaena,” a thoughtful fusion of the beloved artist’s name and her devoted official fan club, “Uaena.”
According to Edam Entertainment, 100 million won was directed to Seoul’s prestigious Asan Medical Center. The remaining funds were strategically distributed, with 50 million won allocated to each of four distinct local charity organizations.
“The donations are earmarked to assist patients grappling with financial hardship, enrich the lives of children and adolescents through educational and cultural programs, provide crucial support for elderly individuals living in solitude, empower single-mother households in vulnerable circumstances, and furnish advanced assistive devices for individuals with disabilities,” the agency stated regarding the impactful allocation of these funds.
This recent act of generosity underscores IU’s long-standing commitment to philanthropy. She consistently makes donations under the “IUaena” banner on significant occasions, including her debut anniversaries, birthdays, and year-end holidays. Notably, earlier this month, she also contributed 100 million won to uplift children and teenagers in observance of Children’s Day. (Yonhap)
