ST Pharm announced Friday its official membership in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), marking a significant step in strengthening the company’s global ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management and commitment to corporate sustainability.
The UNGC, launched at the UN headquarters in 2000, is the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative. It brings together over 20,000 companies and organizations from more than 160 countries, all dedicated to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Following this crucial membership, ST Pharm is committed to annually disclosing a Communication on Progress (COP) report. This report will meticulously outline its implementation roadmap and demonstrate full compliance with the UNGC’s globally recognized 10 principles.
ST Pharm has a robust track record of demonstrating responsible business practices. The company has previously published comprehensive sustainability reports adhering to Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines and transparently disclosed environmental information through the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). These efforts underscore its continuous enhancement of environmental, safety, and governance systems.
Joining the UNGC is expected to significantly help ST Pharm systematize its ESG activities, ensuring alignment with international standards and fostering stronger trust with its global partners.
Yoo Yeon-chul, Secretary-General of the UNGC Korea Association, commented, “ST Pharm’s membership represents a meaningful initial step towards aligning with the global standards advocated by the international community. We hope this engagement will provide a robust opportunity for the company to deeply embed the UNGC’s core values and principles throughout its operational and management practices.”
Sung Moo-je, CEO of ST Pharm, emphasized the company’s vision: “Our decision to join the UNGC powerfully reflects ST Pharm’s unwavering commitment to responsible management. This commitment extends beyond profit generation, focusing equally on human health and securing a sustainable future. As a globally leading CDMO company, we are dedicated to internalizing the UNGC’s 10 principles into every aspect of our strategy, corporate culture, and daily operations.”
