K-pop sensation NewJeans’ agency, Ador, confirmed on Thursday that ongoing discussions regarding member Minji’s future activities are advancing in a “positive direction,” signaling potential developments for the beloved idol.
Ador’s statement addresses the escalating fan speculation about Minji’s potential return to NewJeans’ group activities, which intensified following a flurry of birthday celebrations and recent fan sightings that circulated widely across online platforms.
“We are continuing internal discussions regarding her future activities,” an Ador representative stated on Thursday. “While specific details cannot be shared at this time, we appreciate your understanding that these discussions are generally moving in a positive direction for Minji’s career.”
Earlier on Thursday, excitement surged after NewJeans’ official social media channels shared multiple photos of Minji baking cookies, accompanied by the celebratory message “Happy Minji Day” for her birthday, further fueling hopes among fans for her imminent return.
Adding to the celebrations, NewJeans’ official account on the popular fan platform Weverse also prominently featured a dedicated birthday image for the talented singer on its main page, delighting fans worldwide.
In related news, recent online posts highlighted Minji’s surprise appearance at a fan-organized birthday cafe event. During this special occasion, she reportedly interacted with fans, distributing handwritten letters and cookies, creating memorable moments for her dedicated supporters.
Providing crucial context to these discussions, NewJeans had previously announced their contract termination from Ador in November 2024. Following a pivotal Seoul court ruling affirming the validity of their contracts with Ador, members Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein rejoined the company in November 2025. Minji’s specific status within the K-pop group has yet to be officially finalized, while Ador terminated Danielle’s contract in December, leading to her ongoing legal dispute with the agency.
