K-pop powerhouse YG Entertainment has officially announced the upcoming debut of its highly anticipated new boy group. Set to launch in September, this will be the agency’s first male idol group in six years, featuring five talented members.

The exciting news was shared by Yang Hyun-suk, founder and executive producer of YG Entertainment, in a video posted on the company’s official blog on Thursday. Addressing widespread curiosity, Yang confirmed, “We’re planning to introduce the male group in September for now. The number of its members, which many people may be curious about, is five.” While further specifics, including the group’s official name, remain under wraps, the confirmation has sent ripples of excitement through the K-pop community.

This new five-member ensemble marks a significant return to the boy group scene for YG Entertainment, following the successful debut of TREASURE in August 2020. Fans have eagerly awaited the agency’s next generation of male artists.

Beyond the new boy group, Yang Hyun-suk hinted at an array of future endeavors, promising that details on upcoming intellectual properties and rookie artists, including a potential new girl group tentatively dubbed “Next Monster,” will be progressively unveiled. This suggests a robust pipeline of fresh talent from the agency.

YG Entertainment is gearing up for a dynamic year with several major projects slated. These include new album releases from its popular groups Babymonster and TREASURE, alongside a monumental world tour by K-pop legends BIGBANG to celebrate their 20th anniversary. (Yonhap)
