Hana Financial Group has officially launched a transformative youth training initiative, strategically designed to cultivate next-generation financial talent and drive innovation across the dynamic financial industry.

Unveiled at a ceremonial event held Monday at the group’s Myeong-dong headquarters in central Seoul, this initiative officially inaugurates the Hana Youth Financial Talent Development Project. Crucially backed by the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft, the program offers a robust hands-on training platform specifically engineered to develop practical, industry-relevant capabilities. It represents a significant expansion and upgrade of Hana Financial Group’s established Hana Digital Power On program, featuring enhanced curricula in critical areas such as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts, along with advanced finance, artificial intelligence (AI), and data analytics.

The high-profile launch event drew prominent attendees, including Kim Sung-wook, Senior Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service; Colin Crooks, the UK Ambassador to South Korea; Lee Hoon-kyu, Chairman of the Kids & Future Foundation; and Eom Jong-hwan, Vice President of SK Telecom. They were joined by Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo and other esteemed officials, underscoring the collaborative importance of this venture.

Kim Sung-wook emphasized the profound significance of this initiative, highlighting its dual benefit: equipping young people to adeptly navigate the complexities of AI-driven and green transitions, while also making a substantial contribution to expanding crucial youth employment opportunities within the financial sector.

Chairman Ham Young-joo reaffirmed Hana Financial Group’s unwavering commitment to fostering participants, enabling them to evolve into influential leaders at the forefront of financial innovation. He expressed a strong aspiration that these graduates would emerge as indispensable core talent, highly recognized not only within Hana Financial Group but throughout the entire vibrant Korean financial industry.

Immediately following the launch ceremony, a rigorous final competition was held to select the inaugural program participants. Twenty university teams showcased innovative ideas for future financial services, demonstrating how to effectively leverage cutting-edge AI, blockchain, and cloud technologies.

The selected teams are now embarking on an intensive, structured four-month training program, extending through July. During this period, they will benefit from invaluable mentorship provided by seasoned Hana Financial Group professionals, guiding them to refine their innovative ideas into viable, practical financial services. Furthermore, participants will engage in a collaborative hackathon with SK Telecom, tasked with designing impactful and innovative financial solutions specifically tailored for socially vulnerable groups.

Exceptional participants will be recognized with a substantial total prize money of 30 million won (approximately $20,400 USD). The top three performing teams will earn exclusive opportunities for insightful overseas corporate visits, offering global exposure. Significantly, all program graduates will receive preferential consideration during the application process for positions within Hana Financial Group, providing a direct pathway to careers in financial innovation.
