South Korea’s premier portal operator, Naver, officially announced Monday a significant strategic partnership with India’s Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). This collaboration is set to jointly develop and market cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) and robust cloud services specifically for the Indian market, focusing on critical industries including banking, manufacturing, and retail.
The partnership agreement was formally signed during the Korea-India Business Forum in New Delhi, an event organized by the Federation of Korean Industries. This forum coincided with a state visit by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung. Naver CEO Choi Soo-yeon participated in the signing as part of the official business delegation, alongside notable figures such as Korea’s Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan, India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, and TCS’s Country Head, Ujjwal Mathur.
Both companies confirmed their commitment to developing highly localized AI applications and tailored cloud-based services specifically for Indian clientele. This strategic collaboration will integrate Naver’s robust business-to-consumer (B2C) platforms with TCS’ deep industry-specific solutions and extensive data assets. The goal is to secure lucrative contracts within the rapidly expanding domain of AI-led digital transformation projects.
As India’s largest IT services firm, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reported approximately $30 billion in revenue in 2025. The company boasts a significant core customer base, including major global banks, leading manufacturers, and prominent telecom operators worldwide.
Naver CEO Choi Soo-yeon emphasized India’s ambitious drive: “India is actively expanding its artificial intelligence industry with the clear goal of becoming a global AI leader. Through this pivotal partnership with TCS, we anticipate generating substantial new business opportunities by leveraging collaborative strengths across AI, cloud technologies, and B2C services.”
This strategic alliance offers Naver immediate, crucial access to a vast network of large enterprise clients throughout India. It represents a significant step for Naver as it expands beyond its domestic market, aiming to monetize its advanced AI and cloud services at an unprecedented scale within a nation of over 1.4 billion people.
