South Korea is actively showcasing its advanced defense capabilities and fostering deeper strategic partnerships in Southeast Asia by operating a dedicated Korea Pavilion at the Defense Services Asia (DSA) 2026 exhibition in Malaysia. This initiative underscores the nation’s commitment to expanding its defense exports globally.
Jointly managed by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) and the Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement, the pavilion is a central feature at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur. This prestigious biennial defense exhibition is scheduled to run from Monday through Thursday.
The Korea Pavilion brings together eight prominent South Korean defense firms, each presenting a diverse array of cutting-edge military technologies and innovative products. Highlights include sophisticated mine countermeasure sonar systems, advanced unmanned underwater vehicles, and artificial intelligence-based command decision-support systems designed to enhance operational efficiency.
Furthermore, an additional fourteen South Korean defense companies are exhibiting alongside the Korea Pavilion. This group includes major system integrators such as LIG Nex1 (LIG D&A), Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), and Hyundai Wia, alongside specialized component manufacturers like Poongsan, Union Precision, and Soo Optics, showcasing the breadth of Korea’s defense industrial base.
In collaboration with the local office of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the pavilion is strategically hosting crucial business meetings. These sessions connect overseas buyers with leading Korean defense companies, facilitating vital export consultations and targeted business matchmaking opportunities.
Kim Tae-gon, Director General for International Cooperation at DAPA, emphasized the broader vision behind the initiative, stating, “The Korea Pavilion at DSA 2026 transcends the traditional exhibition format, serving as a strategic platform to strengthen government-to-government cooperation and achieve tangible export outcomes. We are dedicated to supporting Korean defense firms as they expand their presence in the dynamic Southeast Asian market and forge sustainable, long-term partnerships.”
DAPA has also announced plans to maintain its strong international presence by operating Korea Pavilions at other major global defense exhibitions throughout the year. These include Eurosatory in France in June, MSPO in Poland in September, and the AUSA Annual Meeting in the United States in October.
