eBay Japan recently announced the successful hosting of its “2026 Qoo10 Japan Mega Debut Awards.” The event celebrated the first anniversary of the impactful Mega Debut program and served as a platform to unveil crucial future strategies for brand growth.
The Mega Debut initiative was first launched in April 2025, stemming from a commitment made at the “2025 Qoo10 Japan K-Beauty Mega Conference” in Seoul. Its primary goal was to discover and empower 200 emerging beauty brands, specifically focusing on indie K-beauty labels.
Since its inception, the program has consistently introduced new and innovative brands to Japanese consumers every week. It provides extensive marketing support, starting from the pre-launch phase, ensuring even lesser-known brands can rapidly gain significant traction in the competitive market.
By the first week of April this year, the Mega Debut program had successfully selected and supported 200 brands, with a notable 94 percent being Korean brands. Within the dynamic K-beauty segment alone, cumulative sales have impressively reached $21 million, and 48 individual brands have surpassed quarterly sales of $63,000.
During the awards ceremony, eBay Japan recognized 11 brands for their outstanding performance over the past year. Remarkably, nine of these award winners were K-beauty brands, underscoring their escalating influence and strong competitiveness within Japan’s vibrant beauty market.
Looking ahead to its second year, eBay Japan is poised for significant expansion of the program. While Mega Debut will continue to champion rookie brands, the company is introducing two new tiers: “Incubation” for rising brands and “Mega Collaboration” designed for established, star-level brands.
Under the new Incubation program, 150 brands will benefit from intensive support over a three-month period. The Mega Collaboration initiative will see a select group of 50 brands engage in deep partnership promotions, including exclusive live commerce broadcasts and bespoke promotional campaigns to maximize their reach.
To further enhance brand visibility, eBay Japan also confirmed plans to extend brand exposure periods from seven days to 14 days and increase the number of featured brands weekly from four to six. Additionally, the company aims to significantly boost visibility by strengthening strategic links with Qoo10 Japan’s highly popular “Mega Sale” promotions.
