Merck Life Science announced the opening of the Merck Chemistry Hub at KAIST on Monday, signifying a deepened collaboration between the global leader in chemicals and Korea’s prestigious science and technology university.
Located within KAIST’s chemistry department, the Merck Chemistry Hub provides a dedicated space for students and researchers. Here, they can explore and leverage Merck’s innovative solutions to design and execute complete chemical research projects, encompassing the essential workflow of synthesis route design, synthesis, and analysis.

Merck will provide KAIST researchers and students with complimentary samples of products specifically designed for chemistry research, along with exclusive promotional offers.
In the synthetic pathway design phase, students and researchers can utilize Merck’s AI-powered software programs, Synthia and Aiddison, to simulate and experience optimal synthetic routes. During synthesis, they can leverage solutions such as PennPhD, SynLED, and Synple. Access to demonstrations of analytical instruments, including HPLC columns and TLC Explorer, and ChemisTwin, a digital analysis platform facilitating compound identification and quantitative analysis, will also be available.

Merck and KAIST initially formalized a long-term strategic partnership through a memorandum of understanding in May 2024. To date, Merck has established the Merck Application and Experience Lab, the Merck Bio Lab, and the Merck Supply Center at KAIST.
