BigHit Music announced that the group’s fifth studio album, “Arirang,” recorded a staggering 3.98 million sales within the first 24 hours after its release on Friday. This figure surpasses BTS’s previous first-week sales record of 3.37 million copies, set by their fourth studio album, “Map of the Soul: 7,” in February 2020, further solidifying their status as global music icons.
“Arirang” has also conquered international charts, reaching the top of iTunes’ Top Albums charts in 88 countries and regions worldwide, including Italy, Mexico, and Sweden, according to the label. The album’s global appeal demonstrates BTS’s widespread influence and dedicated fanbase.
The album’s lead single, “Swim,” has also achieved remarkable success, reaching No. 1 on iTunes Top Songs charts in 90 markets, including major music markets such as the United States, Japan, Britain, Germany, and France. In South Korea, the track immediately soared to the top of local streaming services Melon and Bugs, with all songs from the album entering Melon’s Top 100, showcasing the album’s instant popularity and critical acclaim.
