Coupang is experiencing a strong rebound following last year’s data breach, with user numbers nearing pre-crisis levels, according to recent data released Thursday.
IGAWorks reports that Coupang’s weekly active users reached 28.28 million during the week of March 9-15. This represents a decrease of only 2.8% compared to the 29.08 million users immediately following the security incident.
This recovery marks a significant improvement after the initial impact of the breach. Following Coupang’s disclosure on November 29th that 33.7 million customer accounts had been compromised, weekly active users dropped to 27.84 million, further declining to 26.69 million by late December.
Coupang mitigated the user decline in January by offering compensation packages to affected customers, valued at up to 50,000 won ($33) per person. This initiative helped boost active users back into the 27 million range, and subsequently beyond 28 million.
The NYSE-listed company is also witnessing a recovery in its stock performance.
As of Thursday, Coupang shares were trading at $20.09, an 11.30% increase over the past month. This represents a rebound from the 52-week low of $16.74 recorded in February. However, the stock price remains below the 52-week high of $34.08 reached in September 2025.
While addressing the aftermath of the data breach, Coupang has also been actively expanding its use of artificial intelligence to enhance its logistics operations.
At Nvidia GTC 2026 this week, Coupang announced the creation of an “AI factory” in collaboration with Nvidia. This “AI factory” refers to a self-service AI ecosystem that operates on the Coupang Intelligent Cloud and Nvidia’s DGX SuperPOD, enabling engineers across Coupang’s global teams to quickly develop and deploy new AI models.
Coupang is integrating AI models throughout its operations, including warehouse inventory management and delivery route optimization.
“By working with Nvidia, Coupang’s engineers can build upon the advanced AI models and machine learning already powering our operations and unlock new levels of innovation for our company and our customers,” stated Ashish Suryavanshi, Coupang’s vice president of engineering.
Coupang is also participating as a launch partner for Nvidia’s Dynamo, an open-source software designed for agentic inference.
