GM Korea, the South Korean subsidiary of General Motors, announced on Monday a significant downturn in its vehicle sales for May. The company attributed this decline to subdued market demand observed across both its domestic and international operations.
Based on its latest press release, GM Korea’s total vehicle sales for last month amounted to 47,081 units. This figure represents a 5.9 percent decrease when compared to the sales performance from the same period a year ago.
Further analysis of GM Korea’s May performance indicates that exports contracted by 4.8 percent year-on-year, with 46,273 vehicles shipped. Domestically, the South Korean automotive market saw a more pronounced slump for GM Korea, with local sales plummeting by 42.6 percent to just 808 units.
