Doosan Enerbility announced on Wednesday that it has secured a contract with a U.S.-based company to supply a 370-megawatt steam turbine and generator for a power generation facility serving a data center.
This agreement marks Doosan Enerbility’s first steam turbine supply contract in the North American market. The identity of the client remains undisclosed.
With this order, Doosan Enerbility has demonstrated its capability to deliver comprehensive combined-cycle power solutions, integrating both gas and steam turbine technologies.
Combined-cycle power generation utilizes natural gas to power a gas turbine, with the resulting waste heat used to drive a steam turbine, generating additional electricity and enhancing overall energy efficiency.
The company highlighted the increasing demand for highly efficient and stable power systems in artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, due to their substantial and continuous energy consumption.
Leveraging this recent success, Doosan Enerbility plans to expand its export efforts of combined-cycle power solutions to utilities and independent power producers throughout North America.
With a proven history of supplying both gas and steam turbines in the region, the company anticipates a stronger competitive advantage in future bids for large-scale combined-cycle power projects.
