RBW, the renowned South Korean entertainment company behind K-pop sensations Mamamoo and Oh My Girl, has announced the acquisition of 257 Entertainment through its subsidiary WM Entertainment. This strategic move aims to bolster RBW’s global expansion efforts and strengthen its position in the competitive K-pop industry.
According to RBW, WM Entertainment recently finalized a comprehensive business transfer agreement with 257 Entertainment and has already commenced post-merger integration procedures. The acquisition signifies RBW’s commitment to identifying and nurturing promising talent.
The agreement entails WM Entertainment assuming control of 257 Entertainment’s intellectual property assets, exclusive artist contracts, and overall business operations, including the integration of its existing workforce. This consolidation streamlines operations and leverages the strengths of both companies.
Following the acquisition, 257 Entertainment CEO Park Jae-yong will join forces with current RBW and WM Entertainment CEO Kim Jin-woo as co-CEO of WM Entertainment. This joint leadership structure ensures a smooth transition and combines the expertise of both executives.
This significant deal also brings the rising boy group Xlov, known for their innovative and genderless concept, under the expansive RBW label network. This further accelerates RBW’s global reach. Xlov, comprised of members Wumuti, Rui, Hyun, and Haru, made their debut in January 2025 and has quickly gained attention for their unique artistic vision. Wumuti, Rui and Haru, garnered a dedicated international fanbase through their participation in popular audition programs like “Boys Planet” prior to their official debut.
RBW CEO Kim emphasized the company’s appreciation for 257 Entertainment’s “unique, creative approach” and expressed confidence that the acquisition will “generate strong synergies by integrating the business infrastructure and know-how of RBW and WM Entertainment.” This collaboration is expected to enhance the quality and reach of RBW’s artists.
“We will do our utmost to expand the intellectual property of Xlov in the global market,” Kim added, highlighting the company’s commitment to promoting Xlov and its music to a global audience.
Park also expressed optimism that the partnership would accelerate the global spread of K-pop trends and contribute to the continued growth of the industry. This acquisition positions RBW for continued success and innovation in the global music market.
