Blackpink has achieved a new milestone, setting a record for first-week album sales for a K-pop girl group with their third EP, “Deadline.” According to YG Entertainment’s official count, the EP sold over 1.77 million copies in its first week.
The highly anticipated release surpassed 1.46 million copies sold on its release day alone, shattering the previous first-day and first-week sales records for K-pop girl groups. These records were previously held by Aespa for their third EP, “My World,” which was released in May 2023.
The five-track mini album debuted at the top of iTunes albums charts in 38 regions globally and is projected to reach No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart, solidifying Blackpink’s international impact.
The music video for the title track, “Go,” which marks the first time all four Blackpink members have collaborated on songwriting, quickly became a global sensation. It topped YouTube’s worldwide trending videos and achieved the most-watched video status within 24 hours of its release. As of Friday morning, the music video had garnered over 40 million views on YouTube.
