Illit, the rising K-pop group, has achieved a remarkable milestone with their debut song “Magnetic,” surpassing 300 million streams in Japan, according to Oricon’s official announcement on Wednesday. This achievement highlights Illit’s growing popularity and impact on the global music scene.
The group reached this impressive milestone on Sunday, just 101 weeks after “Magnetic” first entered Oricon’s Weekly Streaming Ranking. Oricon noted that this is the fastest time for any international female artist to reach 300 million streams, solidifying Illit’s place as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
“Magnetic,” released in March 2024 as the lead single from Illit’s debut EP, “Super Real Me,” has been breaking records since its release. It previously exceeded 100 million plays on Oricon’s weekly tally in record time for a female group. The single also made history by charting on Billboard’s Hot 100 and the UK’s Official Singles Top 100, making Illit the first K-pop group to have a debut song achieve this feat. This crossover success showcases the group’s appeal to a broad international audience.
The talented quintet is gearing up to embark on their first concert tour, “Press Start,” commencing on March 14. After two highly anticipated nights in Seoul, the tour will take them to five cities across Japan, further solidifying their fanbase and expanding their reach.
