BTS member V’s debut solo album, “Layover,” has surpassed 2.5 billion streams on Spotify, according to Big Hit Music on Thursday. This milestone highlights the album’s global popularity and V’s impact as a solo artist.
Released in September 2023, “Layover” achieved this significant streaming milestone on Wednesday, marking its success in less than 2 1/2 years.
The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and achieved a remarkable feat by placing all six tracks on both the Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts – a first for a K-pop solo release. Furthermore, each track from “Layover” has garnered over 100 million streams on Spotify, another unprecedented achievement for a K-pop solo album.
The mini-album also topped the iTunes Top Albums Chart in 110 regions worldwide and has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ). The pre-release track “Love Me Again” achieved gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and reached 1 billion Spotify streams as of December 2024. On Spotify’s global charts, “Love Me Again” peaked at No. 96, while the main track “Slow Dancing” reached No. 51, further solidifying V’s solo success.
