BTS leader Kim Nam-joon, widely known as RM, has been appointed a global ambassador for the National Museum of Korea. This prestigious recognition acknowledges his profound and sustained interest in Korean traditional culture and art, alongside his dedicated efforts to support the preservation of invaluable cultural heritage, as announced by the museum.
Demonstrating his commitment, RM previously donated 100 million won (approximately US$65,231) in both 2021 and 2022 to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation. These significant contributions were instrumental in funding the preservation and restoration of Korean cultural assets located abroad.
An esteemed art collector himself, RM is also preparing to host a special exhibition in October featuring select works from his personal collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, further highlighting his passion for the arts.
In his new ambassadorial role, the singer will actively participate in various promotional endeavors for the National Museum of Korea. His involvement aims to introduce the rich tapestry of Korean history and traditional culture to a broader international audience.
“I am committed to doing my utmost to help more people truly appreciate the inherent beauty and profound value of our cultural heritage,” RM stated.
You Hong-june, the esteemed director of the museum, expressed optimism that RM’s involvement would significantly elevate the museum’s global standing. “Collaborating with RM to share the splendor of our cultural heritage with the world is truly meaningful,” You Hong-june remarked.
