Get ready, K-pop fans! Seventeen’s dynamic new unit, V8, is set to release their highly anticipated debut EP, “V8,” on June 29. This marks the sixth official unit from the acclaimed group, following successful ventures by BSS, Jeonghan x Wonwoo, Hoshi x Woozi, S.Coups x Mingyu, and DK x Seungkwan.
The self-titled album delves into profound themes of recovery and personal growth, drawing inspiration from past experiences of wandering and moments of confusion, as shared by their agency.
Fans can look forward to a diverse collection of eight tracks. Leading the EP is the vibrant electronic single “singasong,” infused with a captivating hyperpop sound. This track was expertly co-composed by the two V8 members alongside renowned German DJ and producer Mechatok. The album also features exciting new songs including “Friend,” “Beat,” “Mia,” “Coloring,” “girlsnboys,” “8DM,” and the digital-exclusive “rat race.”
Adding to the star-studded lineup, the track “girlsnboys” boasts an impressive credit: it was written, composed, and produced by 14-time Grammy Award winner Pharrell Williams, with additional contributions from Seventeen’s long-time collaborator and producer Bumzu.
To celebrate their debut, V8 will hold their inaugural standalone concerts. The first shows will take place on July 11-12 at the KINTEX convention center in Goyang, west of Seoul, making it the first Seventeen unit performance to feature a standing-only format. Following their Korean dates, Vernon and The8 will bring their electrifying show to Hong Kong from July 17-19.
