Colony Breaks 5M Admissions, Dominates Box Office 4th Week

The blockbuster zombie thriller “Colony” continues its dominant run at the **Korean box office**, significantly boosting its impressive numbers. Over the past weekend, the film added 301,053 admissions, pushing its accumulated total to a staggering 5,212,824 admissions as of Sunday. This data, compiled by the Korean Film Council for its weekend chart (covering Friday through Sunday), solidifies “Colony’s” position as a major cinematic event.

This remarkable achievement makes “Colony” only the second movie released this year to successfully cross the coveted **5-million admissions milestone**, following in the footsteps of the acclaimed Korean history drama, “The King’s Warden.”

Directed by the visionary Yeon Sang-ho, renowned for his global hit “Train to Busan” (2016), “Colony” delivers a high-octane zombie thriller. The film stars the iconic Jun Ji-hyun as biotechnology professor Se-jeong, who leads a desperate group of survivors. Their mission: to escape a building ruthlessly locked down amidst a devastating virus outbreak, battling hordes of infected in the process.

The stellar cast of this action-packed blockbuster also includes Koo Kyo-hwan, portraying a mysterious lone wolf researcher with an unusual control over zombies. Ji Chang-wook and Kim Shin-rok join Jun Ji-hyun as key survivors, intensely battling for their lives against the relentless zombie threat.

On the competitive weekend chart, the vibrant Korean comedy film “Wild Sing,” starring the charismatic Gang Dong-won, secured the No. 2 spot. It attracted 205,100 admissions over the weekend, bringing its total admissions to 869,720. Meanwhile, Steven Spielberg’s gripping sci-fi thriller “Disclosure Day” made a strong debut at No. 3, drawing 112,388 admissions during its opening weekend, according to the latest figures.
