Celebrating significant achievements for Korean cinema, the MBC documentary “The Seoul Guardians” garnered multiple prestigious accolades at the 28th Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy. This compelling film secured the Silver Mulberry, an audience-voted runner-up prize, alongside the esteemed Black Mulberry critics award. Additionally, “The Seoul Guardians” received a special mention for the White Mulberry, recognizing its directorial debut excellence.
Further solidifying South Korea’s strong presence at the festival, two other notable films were honored with the Crystal Mulberry, the festival’s third-place audience award. These included “My Name,” a gripping mystery drama intricately set amidst the historical 1948 Jeju April 3 uprising, and the captivating period drama “The King’s Warden.”
As a premier European event celebrating East Asian cinema, the annual Far East Film Festival remains a vital platform for showcasing regional talent. This year’s competition featured an impressive selection of 52 films, with six standout entries proudly representing South Korea.
