Nongshim Co., South Korea’s prominent instant noodle manufacturer, announced on Wednesday its plan to establish a new subsidiary in Russia by June, marking a key step in its ambitious strategy to significantly expand its presence across the Eurasian market.
The global instant noodle giant will set up “Nongshim Rus LLC” in Moscow to strategically capitalize on and meet the escalating demand for instant noodles, widely known as “ramyeon,” throughout Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region, the company confirmed in an official press release.
According to market research firm Euromonitor, the Russian ramyeon market is projected for substantial growth, expected to reach 1.5 trillion won ($1.05 billion) by 2030, a significant increase from an estimated $790 million in 2025. This robust growth potential underpins Nongshim’s investment.
This newly formed Russian entity is envisioned to function as a crucial regional hub for Central Asia, playing a vital role in strengthening Nongshim’s sales and distribution networks across neighboring CIS countries, including strategic markets like Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
“Russia represents a strategic gateway connecting Europe and Asia, and it’s an incredibly attractive market where ramyeon consumption is experiencing rapid growth,” stated a company official. “The primary objective for the new subsidiary is to achieve $30 million in sales by 2030, driven by aggressive expansion not only within Russia but also into the broader CIS markets.”
This move follows Nongshim’s establishment of Nongshim Europe B.V. in the Netherlands in February of last year, further demonstrating its commitment to sustained international market expansion, particularly across the European continent.
Currently, Nongshim generates approximately 40 percent of its total ramyeon sales from overseas markets, highlighting its strong global footprint which includes major markets such as the United States, China, and Japan.
