Vernon and The 8, members of the globally acclaimed K-pop group Seventeen, are gearing up to debut as a new subunit this summer, Pledis Entertainment announced on Thursday. This highly anticipated collaboration promises a fresh sound and unique performance dynamic for fans worldwide.
According to Pledis Entertainment, Vernon and The 8 are actively involved in crafting their unit album, aiming for a June release. Both artists are reportedly contributing significantly to the album’s production, ensuring a personal and authentic artistic expression.
Vernon, a prominent rapper in Seventeen, has been consistently contributing to songwriting and composition since the group’s debut in 2015. His dedication to music creation was recognized in 2024 when he became a member of the Korea Music Copyright Association. Furthermore, in 2025, he was selected as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the prestigious organization behind the Grammy Awards.
The 8, known for his exceptional dance prowess and artistry, has also established himself as a solo artist in China, releasing several successful albums, including “Stardust” in 2024. His diverse skillset and international appeal make him a compelling force in the K-pop landscape.
This isn’t the first time Vernon and The 8 have worked together. Vernon previously contributed to the songwriting and composition of “Orbit,” the captivating lead track from The 8’s “Stardust” album, hinting at their musical synergy.
This exciting duo will mark the sixth official subunit within Seventeen, adding another layer of depth and versatility to the group’s already impressive discography.
Seventeen boasts a history of successful subunits. BSS (Seungkwan, DK, and Hoshi) achieved phenomenal success with hits like “Fighting,” “CBZ (Prime Time),” and “Just Do It.” As some members begin their mandatory military service, Seventeen has introduced more duo units, including JxW (Jeonghan and Wonwoo), HxW (Hoshi and Woozi), CxM (S.Coups and Mingyu), and DxS (DK and Seungkwan), showcasing the group’s diverse talent and adaptability.
Seventeen is currently captivating audiences on their “New_” world tour. Following electrifying performances in Bangkok, Thailand, and Bulacan, Philippines, the group will conclude their tour with highly anticipated encore concerts in Incheon on April 4th and 5th.
