BTS’s Jungkook reaffirms his status as a global hitmaker of the 2020s!
Jungkook’s first solo album, ‘GOLDEN,’ has been recognized as one of the top albums of the decade, landing at number 20 on ‘Talk of the Charts’ list of the ‘Top 20 Albums with the Most Powerful Hits of the 2020s’.
Released in 2023, ‘GOLDEN’ is recognized as the 20th most successful album of the 2020s. It stands out as the only K-pop solo album on the list, sharing the ranks with global icons like Lady Gaga’s ‘MAYHEM,’ Justin Bieber’s ‘Justice,’ Harry Styles’ ‘Harry’s House,’ Ed Sheeran’s ‘Equals,’ Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life Of A Showgirl,’ The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours,’ Bad Bunny’s ‘Un Verano Sin Ti,’ Billie Eilish’s ‘HIT ME HARD AND SOFT,’ Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘SOUR,’ and Dua Lipa’s ‘Future Nostalgia’.

‘Talk of the Charts’ stated, “Released on November 3, 2023, ‘GOLDEN’ solidified Jungkook’s position as a full-fledged global hitmaker.” They added, “The track ‘Seven’ from ‘GOLDEN’ reached number one upon debut, maintaining the top spot for seven consecutive weeks and staying in the Top 10 for a total of 21 weeks, proving its immense success.” The publication also noted that “Standing Next to You and 3D subsequently continued that momentum, producing a total of three hit songs, contributing to its entry into the Top 20.”
‘GOLDEN’ debuted at number 2 on the Billboard main album chart ‘Billboard 200’, becoming the first album by an Asian solo artist to stay on the chart for 25 weeks. It also debuted at number 2 on Spotify’s ‘Weekly Top Album Global’ chart, remaining in the Top 5 for five consecutive weeks and in the Top 10 for six consecutive weeks.
The album has surpassed 6.8 billion cumulative streams on Spotify, the highest number for a full-length album by an Asian artist, and has exceeded 10 million equivalent album sales (EAS). Jungkook has achieved the highest sales among all K-pop solo artists with this single solo album.
