Starbucks Korea announced Wednesday a significant expansion of its employee scholarship program, now covering master’s and doctoral degrees. This makes Starbucks Korea the first Starbucks market worldwide to offer graduate-level tuition assistance to its partners (employees).
The expansion is part of the Starbucks College Achievement Plan (SCAP), a dedicated education assistance program designed to empower Starbucks employees to pursue higher education opportunities while continuing their employment.
Building on its previous support for bachelor’s degrees, Starbucks Korea broadened the SCAP program last year to encompass graduate studies. This provides employees with valuable financial support for advanced academic pursuits.
Through the program, eligible Starbucks employees can enroll in a diverse range of academic programs, including 37 undergraduate and nine master’s programs. Popular fields of study include English, tourism and hospitality management, marketing, Japanese language, and social welfare.
A key feature of the Starbucks scholarship is its flexibility; participants are not obligated to remain employed at Starbucks after graduation, affording them greater freedom in pursuing their career aspirations.
The program offers comprehensive tuition coverage for the first semester of bachelor’s programs. Students who maintain satisfactory academic performance are then eligible for a Starbucks scholarship to cover the remaining semesters of their undergraduate studies.
All courses and examinations are conducted entirely online, enabling employees to effectively manage their studies alongside their work schedules.
“SCAP is designed to provide a practical learning environment where employees can expand their potential,” said Jang Su-a, chief human resources officer and senior vice president of Starbucks Korea.
“We will continue to support our employees so they can grow personally and professionally while working at Starbucks.”
