“With the Korean team advancing to the quarterfinals, and my song being ‘Catch Catch,’ it feels like perfect timing!” Choi Yena exclaimed with a laugh during a press conference celebrating her latest release. “It would be amazing if people played it during key moments, like a player making a catch or a strikeout happening.”
The song, “Catch Catch,” is the title track from her highly anticipated fifth EP, “Love Catcher,” dropping later today. “I’m hoping this track can be a good luck charm for our team, helping them secure first place!” she added.
The “Love Catcher” EP features five tracks, each exploring different facets of love, which she beautifully describes as “drifting in like a gentle spring breeze,” each uniquely expressed with its own distinct mood and sonic color.
“Catch Catch” is an upbeat and infectious electro-pop song with an addictive melody and a playful, energetic vibe. It perfectly captures the exciting tension of a relationship that’s constantly shifting between chasing and being chased, a theme Choi Yena delivers with her signature bright and bubbly charm.
Introducing her new single, Choi Yena shared, “It’s not just an addictive hook; it’s also full of cheeky and lively charm. It’s the kind of song that will make you want to move your body before you even realize it!” She playfully added, “My goal for these promotional activities is to see 5,000 uploads of the ‘Catch Catch’ dance challenge videos! I want everyone to enjoy the song so much that they can’t resist dancing along.”
The song’s catchy chorus, repeating the playful “dda dda dda,” is reminiscent of the memorable hook-driven style found in many popular second-generation K-pop hits.
“To really capture that nostalgic feeling, I watched a lot of videos of my seniors like T-ara and Orange Caramel,” she explained. “I hope that this track will be a nostalgic memory for some listeners, and a fresh, exciting new song for others.”
As she looks forward to her 10th debut anniversary in just two years, Choi Yena expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her dedicated fans and her talented production team.
“I’m always incredibly thankful for the opportunity to perform on stage like this,” she said with sincerity. “Wherever there’s a stage, I want to be there, and I hope to continue being a consistent favorite for my fans for a very long time.”
