Hyundai Engineering announced its “Strategy 2026” on Thursday, outlining its ambition to become a pivotal player across the energy value chain while fostering sustainable growth through enhanced technological prowess.

The company’s strategy focuses on cultivating new growth engines by expanding its energy sector involvement, securing core technologies in key strategic areas, diversifying its portfolio with orders in advanced industrial construction, and scaling up its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

In response to the evolving global energy landscape, Hyundai Engineering is bolstering its capabilities within the nuclear energy sector, specifically targeting core reactor equipment design technologies. Furthermore, leveraging its experience from international projects, the company intends to enter the liquefied natural gas (LNG) liquefaction business, capitalizing on increasing global demand.

Within the renewable energy domain, Hyundai Engineering plans to construct a 1-gigawatt solar power plant and energy storage system (ESS) in Serbia this year. This project aims to enhance its ability to autonomously execute large-scale renewable energy initiatives.

Hyundai Engineering is also actively pursuing proprietary technologies in emerging fields like small modular reactors (SMRs), hydrogen energy, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies, reinforcing its commitment to future-oriented solutions.

Addressing the global industrial restructuring, the company aims to diversify its order book for industrial facilities. Within its existing areas of expertise – including automotive manufacturing, battery production, commercial facilities, logistics centers, and shipbuilding – Hyundai Engineering plans to secure follow-on projects by offering tailored solutions to clients, while also expanding into related industries.

To align with the growth of the Korean EV market, the company will significantly expand its charging infrastructure, targeting over 32,000 installed chargers this year. Efforts will also be directed at improving the overall EV charging environment for users.

Hyundai Engineering stated that 2026 will mark the beginning of a new era of sustainable growth. The company aims to leverage its five decades of global project experience and advanced technical expertise to become a key contributor across the entire energy value chain.
