Hyundai Mobis is hosting a technology showcase in Sweden for its global clients, highlighting cutting-edge automotive components under development and potential supply agreements. The event takes place at their winter testing ground.
The 10-day showcase, which commenced last weekend, anticipates the attendance of approximately 100 representatives from 10 prominent European and North American automotive companies.
During the event, Hyundai Mobis is presenting new products, currently under discussion for supply contracts, by integrating them into demonstration vehicles. These driving evaluations allow the company to better understand client-specific needs and accelerate the customization of core components.
The Swedish testing facility covers roughly 1.7 million square meters and features 14 specialized tracks designed to simulate snow-covered and icy road conditions. An on-site workshop enables real-time adjustments based on valuable customer feedback.
Hyundai Mobis has been operating the Swedish winter testing ground since 2006, sending large-scale R&D teams annually from January to March to validate core components and advanced automotive technologies. This year, over 80 vehicles have been transported to Sweden for approximately 60 research and development projects.
In addition to the Swedish location, Hyundai Mobis also operates a winter testing facility in Heihe, located in northern China, which is used to test core components intended for Chinese market models. To allow for year-round testing, Hyundai Mobis also leases facilities in Wanaka, New Zealand, allowing them to conduct R&D verification in cold weather climates during the off-season.
The company will be focusing on evaluating component performance in extreme environmental conditions, testing the accuracy of autonomous driving sensors, and validating control units and algorithms currently under development.
