Blackpink, the globally renowned K-pop girl group, has achieved phenomenal success with their latest EP, “Deadline,” selling nearly 1.5 million copies on its release day, according to YG Entertainment on Saturday.
YG Entertainment reported that the new album amassed 1.46 million sales on Friday alone.
“This remarkable achievement not only represents Blackpink’s best first-day sales performance but also establishes a new record for any K-pop girl group in history,” the agency stated, highlighting the significance of the milestone.
“Deadline” marks Blackpink’s highly anticipated comeback as a complete group after a hiatus of over three years, generating immense excitement and anticipation from their dedicated fanbase worldwide.
The EP swiftly climbed to the No. 1 position on iTunes’ Top Albums chart in 32 countries, demonstrating its widespread popularity.
The lead single, “Go,” quickly rose to the eighth position on South Korea’s leading music streaming platform, Melon’s Top 100 chart, as of 10 a.m., showcasing its immediate impact.
“Go” is characterized by its powerful sound production and a captivating, chant-driven hook. The EP also features the pre-release track “Jump,” the retro hip-hop inspired “Me and My,” the empowering anthem “Champion,” and “Fxxxboy,” described as a more nuanced and emotionally resonant track.
