XG, the Japanese girl group, has released a statement regarding the emergency arrest of their agency’s CEO, Jakops, on suspicion of drug possession. This news has stirred concerns among fans and the broader K-pop community.

On October 24th, XG’s official social media channels shared a message expressing, “We sincerely apologize for causing great concern and trouble to fans and related parties regarding the series of reports.” This acknowledges the impact of the situation on their fanbase and industry partners.

The statement continued, “A police investigation is currently underway. Our company is fully cooperating with this investigation. We would like to inform you that XG is not involved in this matter at all. We will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our artists and provide them with our full support.” This aims to distance the group from the allegations and assure fans of their continued support.

On the same day, the members of XG also released their own statement, saying, “We are also feeling great surprise and confusion about this sudden incident and are trying to come to terms with the situation. We are once again acutely aware of how important your support, which always sustains us, is.” This highlights the group’s emotional response and appreciation for their fans.

They emphasized, “We want to continue to face our music with sincerity, just as we have always done, and to truly dedicate ourselves to our activities as XG. And we want to cherish each and every activity and move forward together with you.” This reinforces their commitment to their music and fanbase.

The statement concluded with, “XG will continue to move forward as XG. Thank you for your continued warm support.” This assures fans that XG will continue their activities despite the ongoing situation. They encourage fans to continue to support them.

According to reports from local Japanese media on October 23rd, Jakops (39, Simon Junho Sakai, formerly known as Simon), who founded the label XGLAX and launched XG, and singer and producer Chancellor (39, Michael Kim, Korean name Kim Jeong-seung) were arrested in Japan on suspicion of possessing illegal drugs.

In response, (Ju)Jakops stated on October 24th, “We take it seriously that we have caused concern to many people regarding the news of the arrest of our producers (Jakops, Chancellor) reported through some media outlets.”

They further explained, “We are currently doing our best to confirm the facts related to the matter and are faithfully and actively cooperating with all ongoing investigations. As specific details have not yet been confirmed, we will promptly and transparently provide additional information as soon as accurate facts are confirmed and the situation is resolved.”
