Turner & Townsend Korea, a leading construction management firm, announced a strategic partnership with the prominent law firm Lee & Ko on Monday, aimed at strengthening legal services within the construction industry amidst increasingly complex and challenging disputes.
The memorandum of understanding (MOU) formalizes an agreement between the two firms to combine their respective strengths: Turner & Townsend’s deep engineering expertise and Lee & Ko’s comprehensive legal advisory capabilities. This collaboration is designed to meet the growing demand for integrated technical and legal analysis as construction projects escalate in size and complexity.
Specifically, the partnership will focus on collaborative efforts regarding construction-related claims, disputes, arbitration, and litigation. Furthermore, the firms plan to host joint seminars and provide mutual professional training opportunities for their staff. A key area of focus within the agreement involves strengthening technical assessments related to construction cost verification and extension-of-time analyses, which both firms believe will significantly improve the effectiveness and efficiency of dispute resolution processes.
“As construction projects grow larger and more complex, engineering expertise, rather than legal analysis alone, can help provide a sound basis for settlement and facilitate smoother dispute resolution,” stated Park Jang-shik, Chief Executive Officer of Turner & Townsend Korea.
Turner & Townsend Korea, established in 2009 as a joint venture between Korean project management firm HanmiGlobal and UK-based Turner & Townsend, offers a comprehensive suite of services including cost and claims management, procurement, contract administration, and advisory services for construction and infrastructure projects.
