Shinhan Financial Group’s dedicated board of directors recently intensified its strategic engagement with international investors through a series of impactful investor relations meetings held across the United Kingdom. This proactive initiative underscores the banking group’s commitment to strengthening global partnerships and enhancing corporate transparency.

Shinhan Financial board Chair Kwak Su-keun spearheaded a comprehensive five-day investor relations roadshow, strategically visiting key financial hubs in London and Edinburgh from Monday through Friday.

This significant investor relations event was meticulously organized to present the group’s substantial progress on its corporate value enhancement initiatives and its robust governance strategy. It also served as a crucial platform for gathering invaluable feedback directly from leading global investors and respected governance experts.

Demonstrating a strong commitment to transparent communication, Shinhan Financial’s board has, since last year, formalized a series of overseas investor relations activities, published insightful shareholder letters, and hosted board roundtable meetings. These ongoing efforts are designed to foster deeper, more meaningful communication with its diverse investor base.

Critically, the insights and feedback garnered through these strategic engagements are consistently integrated into board discussions and decision-making processes. This direct input directly influences critical areas such as shareholder rights, overall board effectiveness, and corporate accountability, ensuring responsive governance, the group elaborated.

During their strategic visit to the UK, Shinhan Financial’s board convened with several prominent institutional investors. These included ClearBridge Investments, a highly regarded equity manager operating under the umbrella of global investment giant Franklin Templeton, and Pictet Asset Management, the asset management division of the Swiss multinational private bank and investment firm, Pictet Group.

Discussions during these crucial meetings spanned a wide array of topics, including the current domestic and global economic outlook, pressing issues confronting the financial industry, Shinhan Financial’s ambitious long-term growth strategy, and the measurable progress of its corporate value enhancement plan.

Further reinforcing its commitment to global best practices, the board also held a productive meeting with representatives from the International Corporate Governance Network in London. This session facilitated a vital exchange of views on the evolving global governance landscape, contemporary investor expectations, and the pivotal role boards play in fostering sustainable long-term corporate value.

“The invaluable opportunity to directly engage with global investors is a fundamental component of understanding diverse market expectations and continually refining Shinhan Financial’s strategic corporate value enhancement framework,” stated Shinhan Financial Group’s board Chair Kwak Su-keun.

“Our board is resolute in its commitment to exercising independent and exceptionally informed judgment. We will persist in strengthening Shinhan Financial’s governance framework, ensuring it aligns seamlessly with the highest global standards and expectations.”
