Kicking off the highly anticipated London leg of their “Arirang” world tour on Monday, global K-pop sensation BTS drew tens of thousands of ecstatic fans to the iconic Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The British capital enthusiastically embraced the group, marking their arrival with citywide celebrations and diverse cultural events.

The seven-member K-pop group delivered the first of two completely sold-out concerts in London, a testament to their immense popularity, before continuing the dynamic European leg of the “Arirang” tour with upcoming stops in Munich and Paris.

Electrifying the crowd, BTS opened the show with their latest chart-topping single, “Hooligan.” The setlist prominently featured tracks from their critically acclaimed new album, “Arirang,” including fan favorite “Swim,” alongside global mega-hits like “Butter” and “Dynamite,” showcasing their diverse musical range.

Hours before the gates opened, a vibrant sea of fans from across the globe converged outside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Dressed in official BTS merchandise and various shades of purple—the iconic color deeply associated with the group and its devoted fandom, ARMY—they created an atmosphere of pure excitement.

Reflecting the deep connection, one passionate fan from Scotland shared with YTN, “BTS’s music transcends language and everything else. They offer comfort and strength whenever we’re going through difficult times,” highlighting the group’s profound impact.

Echoing similar sentiments, another dedicated fan from Munich expressed her admiration for “the genuine love and respect BTS members show each other and, crucially, their incredible fans,” underscoring the group’s heartfelt ethos.

Beyond the stadium, London truly embraced the “Arirang” tour. Coinciding with the highly anticipated concerts, iconic London landmarks and esteemed cultural institutions enthusiastically joined in the citywide celebrations, marking BTS’ triumphant return to the UK.

A significant highlight was “The City Arirang,” an expansive fan festival designed to accompany the world tour. The Korean Cultural Centre UK spearheaded this initiative, unveiling a special exhibition showcasing BTS music videos, authentic stage costumes, exclusive official merchandise, and immersive Korean cultural experiences. The festival’s reach extended to the prestigious British Museum’s Korea Gallery, inviting visitors to explore captivating displays inspired by the profound themes of BTS’s latest “Arirang” album. Adding to the excitement, fans could embark on an engaging eight-stop stamp rally across various iconic London locations.

Further demonstrating the city’s festive spirit, the iconic London Eye was spectacularly illuminated in vibrant red. Concurrently, an exclusive “Arirang”-themed boat, proudly displaying the tour’s distinctive logo, gracefully sailed along the historic River Thames, creating unforgettable visual moments for fans and residents alike.

In a unique gesture of welcome, London’s renowned National Gallery engaged with BTS fans by prominently highlighting group leader RM’s well-documented, longtime admiration for the celebrated British Romantic painter J. M. W. Turner across its social media platforms.

The prestigious museum shared an evocative photo of RM standing outside its grand entrance, recalling his heartfelt remarks from a 2021 interview. In that interview, RM passionately described Turner as his absolute favorite artist, stating that witnessing the painter’s masterpieces in person had been “like a dream come true,” resonating deeply with art and BTS enthusiasts.

These spectacular London concerts represent the latest triumphant stop on BTS’s extensive European tour, building on successful previous performances in Madrid and Brussels. The monumental “Arirang” world tour is an unprecedented undertaking, set to encompass an astounding 88 concerts across 34 cities globally, officially making it the largest world tour ever mounted by any K-pop act in history.
