Eight More South Korean Vessels Exit Strait of Hormuz

Eight additional South Korean-operated vessels have successfully navigated out of the Strait of Hormuz, following last week’s significant ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. This latest departure reduces the number of South Korean-linked ships remaining within the critical maritime corridor to five, South Korea’s maritime ministry announced Friday.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries confirmed the safe passage of these vessels through the strategic waterway, reporting that all are currently sailing normally and without incident.

A total of 37 South Korean maritime personnel were aboard the recently departed ships, with one vessel specifically en route to South Korea, the ministry further stated.

With these recent movements, the count of South Korean-affiliated ships still positioned inside the Strait of Hormuz now stands at five.

The ministry also noted that 47 South Korean sailors remain in the broader Persian Gulf region, including 30 who are serving on foreign-flagged ships.
