K-pop sensation BoyNextDoor has achieved an impressive new career high on Billboard’s main albums chart with the release of their first full-length album, “Home.”
According to the latest Billboard charts, officially dated June 27 and released Tuesday, the group’s highly anticipated album “Home” made a remarkable debut at No. 16 on the prestigious Billboard 200. This significant ranking marks the K-pop boy band’s highest placement on the chart to date, significantly surpassing the No. 40 peak previously achieved by their earlier EP, “The Action.”
This monumental achievement further solidifies BoyNextDoor’s consistent presence on the Billboard 200, extending their impressive streak to six consecutive releases. Their journey on the chart includes prior entries such as “Why” (No. 162), “How?” (No. 93), “19.99” (No. 40), “No Genre” (No. 62), and “The Action” (No. 40), showcasing a steady ascent in their global appeal.
“Home” didn’t stop there; it also dominated Billboard’s World Albums chart, debuting triumphantly at No. 1. Additionally, the album secured the No. 2 position on the Top Album Sales chart, a ranking that encompasses the best-selling physical and digital albums across the United States. This marks another career-best for the K-pop group, improving on the No. 3 peak previously achieved with their album “No Genre.”
Demonstrating their burgeoning global popularity and comprehensive artistic activity, BoyNextDoor also made a significant impact on Billboard’s Artist 100 chart, landing at No. 28. This chart meticulously assesses an artist’s overall influence by integrating data from album sales, track sales, radio airplay, and streaming performance.
Released on June 8, “Home” stands as BoyNextDoor’s inaugural full-length album, offering fans a deeply personal collection of autobiographical stories. These narratives are authentically inspired by the members’ individual and collective experiences both leading up to and following their debut. Notably, all six members were actively involved in every stage of the songwriting and production process, ensuring a genuine reflection of their artistry.
In an interview with the press conducted in early June, the dedicated bandmates revealed the extensive effort poured into the album, sharing that they had committed over a year to its creation. They emphasized that “Home” was a passion project they profoundly wished to see succeed.
Member Woonhak articulated the group’s heartfelt aspirations, stating, “Since ‘Home’ is an album we spent almost a year making with all our sincerity, effort and spirit, I think we just really want it to reach people.” He further added, “Because we wrote so many of our personal stories, we hope people will be able to connect with the human side of BoyNextDoor.”
Beyond its impressive US chart performance, “Home” also demonstrated formidable strength in both Korea and Japan. According to the prestigious Hanteo Chart, the album soared to 1.08 million copies sold domestically within its first week of release, officially crowning it as BoyNextDoor’s fourth consecutive million-selling album – a testament to their growing popularity.
The success was equally pronounced in Japan, where “Home” swept across major rankings. It topped Billboard Japan’s Top Album Sales and Hot Albums charts, alongside securing No. 1 on Oricon’s Weekly Album Ranking and Weekly Combined Album Ranking charts, solidifying the group’s significant presence in the Japanese market.
