Acclaimed actress Jung Ryeo-won takes the lead in the new Netflix medical drama “First Doctor” as Heo Ji-wan, a pediatric surgeon. Known for her blunt and often reckless personality, she earns the moniker “troublemaker” at her hospital. Despite this, Heo Ji-wan is fiercely devoted to protecting her young patients and dedicated to saving the crucial pediatric surgery department from potential closure, promising a compelling and emotional journey for viewers.
Joining the talented cast, Kim Hyun-joo, fresh from the hit series “Teach You a Lesson,” portrays Bae Su-wol. He plays an easygoing anesthesiology professor and a longtime friend of Heo Ji-wan, adding an interesting dynamic to the hospital setting.
The series also features Ha Yoon-kyung as Ki Eun-gyeol, a clever third-year resident who frequently finds herself at odds with Heo Ji-wan. Ha Yoon-kyung is recognized for her previous roles in popular K-dramas such as “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” (2022) and “Hospital Playlist” (2020), bringing her versatility to this new role.
“First Doctor” marks a significant reunion, as it is the second collaboration between director Hong Jong-chan and the highly acclaimed screenwriter Kim Min-suk, who previously worked together on the successful legal drama “Juvenile Justice.” This highly anticipated medical series is set to deliver another powerful narrative.
