TASHKENT, Uzbekistan – BoMI Engineering & Construction is strategically enhancing its footprint in Uzbekistan, leveraging both independent development projects and robust public-private partnership (PPP) opportunities. The company’s flagship BoMI Finance Center in Tashkent is being positioned as a premier gateway, facilitating the entry and growth of Korean businesses within the dynamic Central Asian market.

During the recent Korea-Uzbekistan Business Forum held in Tashkent, Lee Dong-yup, the distinguished head of BoMI E&C’s overseas business division, articulated the company’s unwavering commitment. He highlighted BoMI’s mission to demonstrate advanced Korean construction capabilities through deeply integrated local investment and impactful development initiatives.

“BoMI E&C proudly serves as a ‘K-developer’ in Uzbekistan,” Lee emphasized, detailing the firm’s unique approach centered on independent investment, self-sustained development, cutting-edge sustainable technology, and significant contributions to local economic growth.

Established in 1988, BoMI E&C boasts an impressive track record, having successfully executed over 300 projects globally across nearly four decades. Lee affirmed the company’s substantial construction capacity, valued at approximately $270 million, supported by a dedicated workforce of around 500 professionals across Korea and its international operations.

BoMI distinguishes itself by offering comprehensive, integrated services that span from initial planning and innovative design to efficient procurement and flawless construction. The company consistently integrates smart construction management systems and adheres strictly to ESG-based management principles, ensuring responsible and forward-thinking operations.

Demonstrating its extensive global experience, BoMI has successfully completed Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF)-backed initiatives in Mongolia and Vietnam. Currently, the firm is actively engaged in further EDCF and construction projects in key markets such as Kenya and Laos.

Uzbekistan stands out as a pivotal overseas hub for BoMI, where its strategic focus lies on high-impact Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and comprehensive development ventures. Lee disclosed BoMI’s active involvement or advanced planning for a diverse portfolio of projects, including the vital Urgench airport expansion, the innovative Tashkent biopharmaceutical cluster, and significant residential and resort developments spanning Samarkand and Fergana.

During the forum, Lee prominently showcased the BoMI Finance Center (BFC), an iconic 30-story office tower situated in central Tashkent. This landmark offers premium Grade A office spaces within a prime business district. The ambitious project encompasses a substantial land area of 7,700 square meters and an expansive gross floor area of 88,500 square meters, featuring three state-of-the-art basement floors and 30 magnificent above-ground levels.

Notably, Lee highlighted that BFC was conceptualized and developed entirely through BoMI’s proprietary capital. The company meticulously managed every phase, from visionary planning and intricate design to robust construction and seamless operation, underscoring its self-reliant execution model.

BoMI’s efficiency was further demonstrated by securing permanent land-use rights directly from the Uzbek government and accelerating administrative approvals via a specialized fast-track system, ensuring project velocity and governmental alignment, Lee added.

A key initiative within BFC is BoMI’s plan to dedicate an entire floor specifically for Korean companies. This strategic move aims to foster invaluable connections with local partners and significantly streamline operational ease for businesses expanding into Uzbekistan. Furthermore, the facility will provide comprehensive support, including 24-hour concierge and interpretation services, readily available Korean-speaking staff, and robust business incubation assistance encompassing essential licensing, permits, and procedural guidance.

“BoMI E&C is unwavering in its commitment to collaboratively shape a prosperous future alongside Uzbekistan,” Lee concluded definitively.
