PH Korea announced Wednesday the strategic appointment of Kim Jung-eun, former Chief Operating Officer of Pizza Hut Korea, as its inaugural Chief Executive Officer. This key leadership move comes ahead of the revitalized pizza chain’s official launch next month, signaling a new era for Pizza Hut operations in the country.
Established by prominent investment firms Winter Gold and Kclavis Investment, PH Korea is specifically formed to manage and invigorate the Pizza Hut brand across Korea. The company is slated to commence its operations as the new Pizza Hut franchise headquarters in the nation starting June 1.
Kim Jung-eun brings over two decades of robust experience within the competitive food service industry to her new role. Her distinguished career includes serving as delivery director at Outback Steakhouse Korea, followed by significant leadership in operations and sales planning teams at Pizza Hut Korea, equipping her with invaluable insights into the brand.
According to PH Korea, Kim demonstrated exceptional operational leadership and crucial coordination capabilities. Her proven ability to effectively manage complex relationships among franchise stores, headquarters, and various delivery platforms, particularly during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, was a key factor in her selection.
Her appointment underscores PH Korea’s strategic emphasis on a field-oriented approach to franchise management and a strong commitment to effective operational execution, aiming to foster closer collaboration with local franchisees.
“Pizza Hut holds a significant legacy as a brand that has profoundly shaped Korea’s franchise restaurant culture. I feel a strong sense of responsibility and dedication to successfully rebuilding its value and market presence,” stated CEO Kim Jung-eun.
She further added, “My primary focus will be on actively engaging with the field to find practical solutions and cultivating a PH Korea that achieves sustainable growth in true partnership with our valued franchise owners.”
It is important to note that the existing Korean Pizza Hut unit will continue its ongoing court-led rehabilitation process under the leadership of CEO Im Seung-dae.
Effective June 1, PH Korea will officially assume control of Pizza Hut’s domestic franchise operations. This transition marks a determined effort by the company to restore consumer brand trust, enhance its market position, and drive renewed success for Pizza Hut throughout Korea.
