Twice secured the Best Female K-pop Artist award at the 52nd American Music Awards on Monday, adding another significant US accolade to the globally renowned group’s expanding list of achievements.
The acclaimed K-pop group triumphed over fellow nominees Aespa, Blackpink, Illit, and Le Sserafim in one of the ceremony’s most anticipated categories. Monday’s victory marked Twice’s inaugural trophy at the prestigious AMAs, following their nomination in 2022.
Following their historic win, the K-pop sensation shared a heartfelt message via its official X account, extending gratitude to their dedicated fanbase, known as Once.
The group expressed, “Thank you so much to all the Onces who voted for us and made this possible. We truly couldn’t have done it without you! A million thanks and all our love.”
The American Music Awards winners are determined entirely through enthusiastic fan voting, making this prestigious award a clear reflection of Twice’s immense global following and sustained popularity.
This landmark victory coincides with Twice continuing their monumental “This Is For” world tour, which commenced in Incheon in July and features an impressive 78 shows across 43 cities worldwide — establishing it as the largest tour of the acclaimed K-pop girl group’s illustrious career.
The group successfully concluded the North American leg of the Twice world tour in April, having performed 35 concerts across 20 cities and captivating a total audience of 550,000 people. According to JYP Entertainment, this outstanding achievement represents the largest attendance for any North American tour by a K-pop girl group.
In Japan, Twice also achieved a significant milestone, becoming the first overseas act to headline the iconic Tokyo National Stadium, drawing a combined audience of 240,000 over three unforgettable days.
Now in its 12th year, Twice is currently navigating the European leg of their expansive world tour. Following impactful performances in Lisbon, Barcelona, Paris, Turin, and Berlin, the global K-pop idols are poised to delight fans in Cologne, Germany, on Tuesday.
