Spotify, the world’s leading audio streaming platform, has officially announced the selection of rising indie band Can’t Be Blue as a featured artist for its highly anticipated 2026 “Radar Korea” program. This strategic move highlights Spotify’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent and expanding the global reach of K-indie music.

The “Radar” program is Spotify’s flagship artist development initiative, meticulously crafted to identify and support up-and-coming musicians, providing them with invaluable resources and a global stage to transform into international acts. This selection marks a significant milestone for Can’t Be Blue, propelling them into the global spotlight.

“We are truly honored and immensely grateful to be selected as a Radar Korea artist,” Can’t Be Blue shared in an official statement. “We eagerly anticipate this incredible opportunity to connect more deeply with listeners worldwide through our music. We are committed to continuously sharing stories and sounds that authentically represent who we are as Can’t Be Blue.”

Can’t Be Blue’s Ascendancy Amidst Soaring K-Indie Popularity

Since their debut just two years ago, Can’t Be Blue has rapidly emerged as a prominent force within Korea’s vibrant indie music scene. Their captivating sound has resonated with a growing international audience, evidenced by their impressive surge to over 290,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Their debut track, “Within the Words I Once Called Love,” has garnered over 3.4 million streams on the platform, solidifying their status as an artist to watch.

This remarkable achievement coincides with a significant global surge in demand for K-indie music, which saw a staggering 68 percent year-over-year increase in global streams in 2025. This burgeoning international interest provides a fertile ground for Can’t Be Blue’s continued growth and expansion into new markets.

Adding to the excitement, Can’t Be Blue will prerelease their new song, “Can’t Love,” at noon Tuesday, exclusively through the Radar Korea playlist. This highly anticipated track features a special collaboration with Han of globally renowned K-pop group Stray Kids, promising to draw even wider attention to the indie band.

Spotify’s Global Vision for Emerging Artists

Spotify plans comprehensive promotional efforts to introduce Can’t Be Blue’s unique music to a broader global audience. This includes prominent editorial playlist curation, strategic marketing campaigns, and diverse promotional content designed to maximize the band’s exposure.

John Han, head of music at Spotify Korea, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration: “Amid the rapid rise of K-indie globally, Can’t Be Blue is leaving a strong impression on listeners with their authentic music and unique identity. Through Spotify’s Radar Korea, we look forward to helping more fans around the world discover and connect with the band’s compelling music and story.”

Since its inception in 2020, Spotify’s Radar program has successfully championed over 1,000 artists across 184 countries. Collectively, these artists have generated an astounding 338 billion streams and led to 6.5 billion listener discoveries worldwide, underscoring the program’s profound impact on the global music landscape.

The program boasts an impressive alumni list, including global superstars such as The Kid Laroi, Lauv, Tyla, and Lil Baby. Radar has also been instrumental in the rise of numerous K-pop artists, including BoyNextDoor, Le Sserafim, Riize, Babymonster, and Hanroro, who achieved significant commercial success through the initiative last year.
