Olive Young, Korea’s leading health and beauty retailer, is set to make a significant entry into the world’s largest beauty market, announcing the grand opening of its first-ever U.S. offline store in Pasadena, California, on May 29. This landmark expansion signifies a pivotal moment for K-beauty, bringing Olive Young’s curated selection directly to American consumers.
The flagship Pasadena store promises an expansive retail experience, housing approximately 5,000 products from around 400 diverse beauty and wellness brands. Shoppers will discover a carefully curated selection, including beloved Korean beauty labels, popular brands already resonating in North America, and innovative global products specifically chosen to meet local consumer preferences and emerging trends.
Designed to be a hub for beauty innovation, the store will feature dedicated ingredient-focused sections. These areas will spotlight trending K-beauty skincare components like hydrating hyaluronic acid and rejuvenating PDRN, alongside an array of popular beauty tools, including traditional gua sha devices and advanced skincare patches.
To enhance the shopping journey, Olive Young Pasadena will provide dedicated testing zones, allowing customers to experience products such as cleansers, toner pads, and sunscreens firsthand before making a purchase. Further elevating the customer experience, the store will offer customized beauty services, including professional skin and scalp analysis, and expert consultations on personalized K-beauty skincare routines.
Complementing its physical presence, Olive Young will simultaneously launch a dedicated U.S. online mall. This strategic move is a cornerstone of the company’s robust omnichannel expansion strategy, ensuring accessibility for beauty enthusiasts nationwide.
This new online platform will offer free shipping on all orders over $35, significantly enhancing convenience for U.S. customers. Furthermore, delivery times are expected to be nearly halved—improving from the current five to seven business days—thanks to the establishment of a local logistics center strategically located in Bloomington, California.
Looking ahead, Olive Young’s expansion strategy will initially concentrate on establishing more offline stores across key Western U.S. markets, notably including Los Angeles and the broader California region. Following this initial phase, the company plans to extend its reach into major commercial districts in Southern and Eastern regions, targeting prominent cities like New York.
Kwon Ga-eun, head of Olive Young’s U.S. subsidiary, highlighted the Pasadena store’s pivotal role, stating it “will serve as a strategic base for effectively introducing diverse Korean beauty brands to global consumers, leveraging the company’s proven brand incubation capabilities.”
Kwon further emphasized Olive Young’s mission: “We are committed to helping local consumers – even those new to K-beauty – discover and seamlessly integrate authentic Korean beauty products and routines into their daily lives through our comprehensive platform.”
