YG Entertainment’s 30th Anniversary: Comebacks, World Tours, and New Debuts from K-Pop Powerhouses
YG Entertainment is gearing up for a monumental 2026, marking its 30th anniversary in the competitive K-pop landscape. This landmark year will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of K-pop icon Big Bang and the 10th anniversary of global sensation Blackpink, alongside exciting projects from its next-generation artists.
Despite individual members of both Big Bang and Blackpink having pursued solo careers with separate agencies or independent labels, these groups remain cornerstone intellectual properties for YG, significantly contributing to the agency’s revenue and global recognition.
Leading YG’s ambitious 2026 agenda is Big Bang’s highly anticipated 20th-anniversary comeback project. The legendary K-pop group is reportedly preparing a new album and a grand world tour, strategically timed around their August 19 anniversary.
In a March announcement via YG’s official blog, Yang Hyun-suk, the chief executive producer and founder of YG Entertainment, confirmed an agreement with Big Bang members for upcoming concerts. Further details were revealed in April when Big Bang made an appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, announcing their world tour would commence in August.
During their Coachella performance, Big Bang captivated audiences as a three-member act, delivering a mix of their iconic hit songs and dynamic solo performances from the remaining bandmates across two weekends.
Individual projects are also flourishing, with T.O.P, no longer under YG, releasing his debut solo full-length album, “Another Dimension,” on April 3, just nine days before Big Bang’s Coachella premiere. Taeyang, now signed with The Black Label, is also set to release his fourth LP, “Quintessence,” on May 18. This album marks his first full-length offering since 2017’s “White Night.”

Blackpink’s 10th anniversary in August will also be a major focus, with YG announcing various anniversary projects scheduled around their August 8 debut date. The global girl group’s extensive “Deadline” world tour concluded in January with concerts at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong, following the release of their third EP, “Deadline,” in February. YG has indicated that Blackpink’s anniversary initiatives will be fan-centric, featuring pop-up stores and exclusive, previously unreleased video content.
YG’s burgeoning younger acts, Babymonster and Treasure, are also poised to play pivotal roles in the company’s celebratory year.
In a March video interview, Yang Hyun-suk commented, “We have invested significant effort into Babymonster and Treasure since last year, and we are committed to refining these efforts to bring exciting news to our fans throughout the year.”
Babymonster recently dropped their third EP, “Choom,” on May 4, and is preparing for their extensive 2026-27 Babymonster World Tour “Choom,” spanning Asia and Oceania.
The tour currently boasts 27 shows across 18 cities, including Seoul, six Japanese cities, and key locations throughout Asia and Oceania such as Manila (Philippines), Macao, Jakarta (Indonesia), Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Taipei (Taiwan), Singapore, Hong Kong, Auckland (New Zealand), Sydney, and Melbourne (Australia). YG confirmed on Monday that additional tour dates for Europe, North America, and South America would be unveiled at a later time.
Treasure, another dynamic K-pop group from YG, recently kicked off their third Asia tour, the 2025-26 Treasure Tour “Pulse On,” starting on May 6 at The Venetian Arena in Macao. This tour will see them perform 27 concerts across 14 cities throughout Asia.

Treasure is also set to release a new hip-hop-infused EP on June 1. Chief Executive Yang previously praised this upcoming project as one of his favorite Treasure releases to date, acknowledging the group’s journey and resilience despite their debut coinciding with the challenging COVID-19 pandemic.
Further diversifying its roster, YG Entertainment is preparing for the highly anticipated debut of its first new boy band in six years, expected around September. Yang Hyun-suk has disclosed that the group will comprise five members. The agency emphasized that this smaller lineup aims to maximize each bandmate’s individuality and distinct skills, setting them apart from Treasure’s member structure.
Music critic Lim Hee-yun weighed in on YG’s 30th anniversary, noting it’s a crucial period for the company to demonstrate its ability to foster new momentum beyond its established flagship acts. “For a 30th-anniversary celebration, the focus should extend beyond familiar names like Big Bang and Blackpink,” Lim stated, highlighting that Blackpink members have diversified into solo ventures and Big Bang’s active promotions have lessened.
Lim concluded by stressing the need for YG to innovate: “YG needs to rapidly build momentum for Babymonster, debut an exceptional new boy group, or develop innovative services that differentiate it from competitors. The company must now prioritize innovation through services, not just by relying on its existing intellectual property.”
