K-pop sensation Illit has made a spectacular entry onto the global music scene with their highly anticipated fourth mini album, titled “Mamihlapinatapai.” The new release immediately soared to the top of Oricon’s Daily Album Ranking, agency Belift Lab proudly announced on Thursday. This significant achievement underscores the rising girl group’s rapidly growing impact and immense popularity.

The group officially dropped their latest EP, “Mamihlapinatapai,” on April 30. Demonstrating undeniable commercial prowess, the album sold an impressive more than 410,000 copies in its first week alone, setting a new career-best sales record for Illit. This incredible success was further highlighted when the EP swiftly topped the album chart in Japan upon its release on Tuesday, solidifying their dominance in the regional market.

Further engaging with their expanding fanbase, Illit also unveiled a dynamic performance video for their compelling main track, “It’s Me,” on Wednesday. The track is quickly gaining traction and steadily climbing the charts, notably rising to No. 15 on Melon’s Top 100, one of South Korea’s most influential music charts.

Adding to their string of groundbreaking accomplishments, Illit’s blockbuster debut single, “Magnetic,” continues to set new benchmarks globally. Last week, the critically acclaimed track officially surpassed an astonishing 800 million plays on Spotify. This monumental milestone was achieved in the fastest time ever for a debut song from any K-pop group, unequivocally showcasing Illit’s immense global appeal and streaming power.
