Jungkook's 'GOLDEN' Sets New Record: First Asian Solo Album on Spotify Global Chart for 130 Weeks

BTS member Jungkook’s first solo album, ‘GOLDEN’, continues its remarkable long-term success on the global Spotify charts.

For the week of April 24-30, ‘GOLDEN’ secured the 99th spot on Spotify’s ‘Weekly Top Albums Global’ chart. This marks its 130th week on the chart, setting a new record as the first and longest-charting album by an Asian solo artist in history.

Jungkook’s debut solo single, ‘Seven’, released in 2023, also maintained its impressive run, ranking 104th on Spotify’s ‘Weekly Top Songs Global’ chart during the same period. ‘Seven’ has now charted for an astounding 146 weeks, making it the first and longest-charting song by an Asian solo artist. Furthermore, ‘GOLDEN’ has surpassed 7 billion cumulative streams on Spotify, establishing it as the most-streamed full-length album by an Asian artist. ‘Seven’ has individually exceeded 2.9 billion streams, a groundbreaking achievement for a song by an Asian artist.

‘GOLDEN’ achieved significant international recognition, receiving Brit Certified ‘Gold’ status from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) after selling over 100,000 units in the UK. This milestone marks it as the first K-pop solo artist album to earn such an honor. In addition, the album secured ‘Platinum Album’ certification from Music Canada (formerly the Canadian Recording Industry Association, CRIA) and ‘Gold’ certification from the French National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing (SNEP).

The album further made history by charting for 25 weeks on the prestigious ‘Billboard 200’, becoming the first album by an Asian solo artist to achieve this feat. It also spent 8 weeks on the UK Official Albums Chart ‘Top 100’. Through ‘GOLDEN’, Jungkook has reached a monumental total of 10 million equivalent album sales (EAS) and accumulated an astonishing 10.837 billion streams across his personal Spotify account.
