Amorepacific Q1 Earnings Soar on Skincare Market Boom

Amorepacific Q1 Earnings Soar on Skincare Market Boom
(Amorepacific)

Amorepacific Group announced robust first-quarter results, with consolidated sales reaching 1.22 trillion won ($826.8 million), marking a 6.4 percent year-on-year increase. Operating profit also saw a significant rise of 7.6 percent to 137.8 billion won. This strong financial performance underscores Amorepacific’s strategic initiatives and growing global market presence.

The impressive growth was primarily fueled by the exceptional performance of its leading skincare brands, successful expansion within the North American Amazon e-commerce platform, and substantial gains across the Japanese beauty market. Key Amorepacific brands such as Laneige, Hera, Aestura, and COSRX were instrumental in driving these positive outcomes.

Notably, Aestura achieved remarkable triple-digit growth in North America, largely propelled by its popular A-Cica line, while simultaneously expanding its reach into 17 new European markets. COSRX also made a significant comeback, demonstrating strong sales momentum across the United States, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), and Japan, solidifying its position in the global beauty landscape.

Laneige further strengthened its international footprint through strategic new product launches, including the innovative Neo Cushion line, captivating consumers worldwide and enhancing its global presence.

Domestic operations in South Korea proved to be a critical growth engine, experiencing a 9 percent increase in sales and a remarkable 65 percent surge in operating profit year-on-year. This was driven by robust consumer demand across Amorepacific’s major brands and diverse retail channels. Sulwhasoo, a premium K-beauty brand, saw considerable growth in both its online and offline sales, especially boosted by seasonal gift demand. Hera also contributed significantly, posting double-digit sales increases for its popular cushion foundations and lip products.

Internationally, Amorepacific’s overseas sales grew by 6 percent. However, operating profit in these markets saw an 18 percent decline, a result of increased strategic marketing investments aimed at supporting aggressive brand expansion and market entry initiatives. In the competitive North American market, COSRX and Aestura were key growth drivers. Innisfree enhanced its market competitiveness with its acclaimed suncare lineup, while IOPE successfully launched its products at Sephora, broadening its premium beauty reach.

The Japanese market, along with key high-growth Asia-Pacific regions including Indonesia, Vietnam, and India, also contributed to strong international growth. This success was led by the global popularity of Laneige and Amorepacific’s innovative derma-focused brands.

Looking ahead, Amorepacific reaffirms its commitment to a mid- to long-term strategy centered on expanding its core international markets, developing comprehensive holistic beauty solutions, pioneering advanced bio-based anti-aging technologies, fostering organizational agility, and accelerating the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across its operations for sustained future growth in the global beauty industry.
