K-pop group LE SSERAFIM (Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, Hong Eunchae) has unveiled the highly anticipated music video for their new single.
On the 24th, LE SSERAFIM released the music video for ‘CELEBRATION,’ the lead single from their 2nd full-length album, ‘PUREFLOW pt.1,’ on the HYBE LABELS YouTube channel. This visual narrative powerfully portrays LE SSERAFIM’s strength in acknowledging anxieties and challenges, and choosing to move forward despite them.
Through the music video, LE SSERAFIM tells a compelling story of understanding weaknesses and building solidarity with a ‘Creature’ who isolates itself due to being different from others. The opening sequence builds intense immersion, reminiscent of a thriller film. The Creature desperately flees from the five pursuing members, traversing snowy fields, deserts, and even vast cosmic planets.
The atmosphere dramatically shifts when the Creature, after its desperate escape, finally confronts LE SSERAFIM. It’s revealed that each of the members also possesses unique characteristics, similar to the Creature, distinguishing them from ordinary people. LE SSERAFIM wasn’t pursuing the Creature to torment it, but to build a connection and stand in solidarity. The moment the five members’ sincerity is understood, the Creature finally clasps hands with them.
Following this revelation, the ‘CELEBRATION’ music video culminates in a festive highlight scene. This sequence, showing the Creature, LE SSERAFIM, and various uniquely-abled beings all enjoying a party together, serves as an anthem for those with perceived shortcomings and embodies the essence of a ‘LE SSERAFIM-style happy ending.’ The artistic depiction of the Creature’s visuals subtly conveys the group’s warm perspective that different appearances are not inherently negative.
The music video was directed by Yang Soon-sik, who has a history of collaborating with LE SSERAFIM on several projects, including their debut album trailer and the music video for their 2nd mini-album, ‘ANTIFRAGILE’.
‘CELEBRATION’ is a song that commemorates the moment one acknowledges their fears and gains the inner strength to confront them. Kim Chaewon and Huh Yunjin participated in the songwriting, adding an authentic touch. The track blends Melodic Techno and Hardstyle genres, creating an incredibly addictive sound.
