NH NongHyup Bank has forged a strategic partnership with Agribank, Vietnam’s prominent agricultural lender, aiming to significantly expand their cooperation in the realm of digital finance. This collaboration is set to drive innovation within Vietnam’s agricultural banking sector.

The formal memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Wednesday, by NH NongHyup Bank CEO Kang Tae-young and Agribank General Director Pham Toan Vuong, marking a key milestone for both financial institutions.

Under the terms of this pivotal agreement, NH NongHyup Bank will provide essential support to Agribank for the development of an advanced online platform dedicated to agricultural banking services. These services will encompass crucial functions such as labor matching, real-time local food sales, efficient settlement tracking, and comprehensive monitoring of wholesale crop prices, directly benefiting farmers and the agricultural economy.

The Korean lender is committed to jointly developing these innovative features with Agribank. This partnership will also enable NH NongHyup Bank to benchmark the new platform, facilitating the integration of similar cutting-edge digital functions into its own mobile banking application, thereby enhancing its service portfolio.

Further solidifying their alliance, the two banks plan to collaboratively develop a specialized card-based remittance system tailored for Vietnamese residents living in Korea. Additionally, they intend to launch an exclusive Agribank-branded card in Vietnam. This card will offer attractive discounts at Korean content stores, aiming to engage and attract younger users in Vietnam and broaden the overall customer base.

Both financial institutions have also agreed to explore future collaboration opportunities surrounding Agribank’s potential privatization. They will diligently monitor market conditions and proactively identify avenues for NH NongHyup Bank’s participation in the privatization process, should it proceed as planned.

“This cooperation between two leading agricultural finance institutions from both countries carries profound symbolic significance,” stated Kang Tae-young, CEO of NH NongHyup Bank.

“NH NongHyup Bank is dedicated to expanding its expertise in agricultural and digital finance globally, enhancing its international competitiveness. Through this strategic partnership with Agribank, we are confident in making a substantial contribution to rural and agricultural development across the region.”
